Clay can be a leading cause of clothing stains. Whether it be the molding clay used for making kids' projects, or the clay in a baseball field, the stains they cause can be damaging and unsightly. Clay stains may seem difficult to remove, but with a few ingredients from your local grocery store, you can get them out of any of your clothes.
Instructions
1. Rub Murphy Oil Soap, or one cup of water mixed with a tablespoon of Borax, over the affected area of clothing. Continue brushing until the soap or solution is saturated into the fabric. Once the area has been thoroughly brushed, let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
2. Fill a basin with the warmest water the clothing can handle, then submerge them in the water. Let them soak overnight, then in the morning remove the clothing from the basin.
3. Transfer the soaked clothing into the washing machine. Use any laundry detergent in tandem with 1/4 cup Cascade dishwasher detergent. Apply the warmest washing temperature possible for the garment.
4. Inspect the clothing after the washing machine has finished its cycles. If the stain persists, soak it in a gallon of water mixed with ammonia, for colored clothing, or bleach, for white clothing, for 15 minutes. Then rinse off the remaining clay stains with water.
