You hold a glass up to your Kenmore refrigerator's ice dispenser, press the button and no ice falls out. You check the ice tray to find some ice, yet nothing is dispensed. Time to take the ice dispenser out of the Kenmore unit to see if you can fix the problem. It may be as simple as an ice cube becoming lodged, wedging the door shut. Or it could be that the motor isn't turning. You have to remove the dispenser to find out.
Instructions
1. Close the door and push the Kenmore unit slightly away from the wall. Unplug it from the outlet to avoid electrical shock while servicing the appliance.
2. Shut off the icemaker's water supply. The supply valve will probably be next to the water source. Look for a shutoff valve above your water heater, under your sink or going to your dishwasher. Turn it off before proceeding.
3. Shine a flashlight under the bottom edge of the Kenmore's ice/water dispenser. Locate two small horizontal slots. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into one slot and gently pry it up and out. Do the same on the other side. The front panel will pop out of the refrigerator.
4. Unfasten the mounting screws on the front of the ice/water dispenser unit. The unit will pull out of your Kenmore refrigerator.
