A top-loading washing machine might be just what you need.
Top-loading washing machines can be preferable to front-loading washing machines in some cases. The front-loading washing machine option can be difficult to install in small laundry rooms, for example, where the door might not be able to open all the way. Top-loading washing machines, on the other hand, can generally be installed in almost any space. The two can have different features, however, that you'll need to compare.

1. Check the prices for the top-loading washing machines you're comparing. Generally, a top-loading washing machine is cheaper than other options, including front-loading washers and washer/dryer combos. They will still, however, be a significant investment for your household budget.
2. Find out how much laundry the top-loading washing machines can hold. They do tend to hold less than front-loading washing machines, so try to find one that has sufficient capacity for your family's needs. They tend to be able to hold between 12 and 16 pounds of laundry.
3. Look at the energy-efficient options for the top-loading washing machines you're considering. The more energy-efficient models will be more expensive upfront, but they can hold more laundry, usually about 20 pounds, and use less energy to operate.
4. Pay attention to any features available on the top-loading washers that are important to you. Features such as automatic temperature control, an extra rinse cycle, a steam setting and touch-pad controls can help make doing laundry an easier task in general.
