Kenmore is a company owned by the Sears Corporation. Sears does not manufacture the product, and Kenmore is nothing more than a product label applied to appliances made by other manufacturers. Whirlpool is the major manufacturer for Kenmore appliances. Therefore, Kenmore appliances follow the Whirlpool date-coding guidelines. You will find that the process of dating your Kenmore oven is straightforward.
Instructions
1. Locate the product sticker on the back of your Kenmore oven. The product sticker tells you all of the date information you need to know about your oven.
2. Locate the serial number starting in 01001 or 10001. Locate the second instance of a letter in the serial number. This is the date code.
3. Compare the letter with this Kenmore's date code list. The letter A was built in 1991. Letter B was built in 1992. Letter C was built in 1993 and so on.
4. Locate the number directly to the right of the date code. This letter tells you the week in the year the oven was built. For example, if it says 06, the oven was built in the sixth week of that year.
