KitchenAid is a manufacturing company that specializes in making different kitchen appliances ranging from larger appliances like ovens, cook tops and dishwashers to small appliances like blenders and mixers. KitchenAid also manufactures food processors, which are used to chop and dice vegetables and other foods. The various attachments that come with the food processors attach to a center shaft, known as the power, or sleeve, shaft. If the shaft ever cracks or breaks it should be repaired by replacing it with a new one ordered from the company.
Instructions
1. Unplug the food processor from the wall.
2. Take the processor lid off and lift the cutting utensil from the processor sleeve shaft.
3. Twist the processor bowl to the right to unlatch it and then lift upwards to lift it from the base of the machine.
4. Flip the processor upside down and then remove the four screws in the corner. Separate the top half from the bottom half of the processor by pulling them apart.
5. Use the pliers to loosen and remove the small plastic nut holding the motor shaft sleeve in place on the motor shaft and slide it off. Slide the new shaft sleeve on and tighten the nut with pliers.
6. Place the two halves of the processor back together and replace the retaining screws. Set the processor back on the counter and slide the bowl back into position. Replace the cutting tool over the shaft sleeve, and place the lid on top of the processor.
