Available in either gas or electric, Kenmore self-cleaning ovens are compatible with almost any kitchen. Kenmore's self-cleaning cycle heats the oven to almost 1,000 degrees, turning food spills and debris into ash. This eliminates the need for excessive scrubbing and caustic, lye-based oven cleaners. Kenmore recommends running the cycle for two to four hours, depending on the level of debris. Once the oven has cooled, wipe away the ash and you're done.
Instructions
1. Remove everything from the oven, including racks, foil, pans and oven liners.
2. Wipe up any greasy spills with a damp cloth. Leaving too much grease in the oven during the self-cleaning cycle can start a fire.
3. Close and lock the oven door. Press the "Clean" button or turn the knob to "Clean". Some Kenmore ovens have a self-clean timer. Set it to three hours, the average amount of time it takes for a self-cleaning cycle.
4. Fill a sink with hot water and a small amount of dish soap. Scrub the racks with soapy water and steel wool.
5. Rinse the racks with clean water and dry them with a towel.
6. Wipe out the oven with a damp cloth when the cycle is finished and the oven is cool. Replace the racks and add a new oven liner if you wish.
