Obtain A Food Handler'S Card In Arizona

Study, take the test and pass it all on the same day

Whether you are an experienced chef or an entry level dishwasher, it is required to have a food handlers card to work with food in a majortiy of states. Arizona is one of the many states that require the passing of a food safety course. This course can be taken online within the comforts of your own home or on any computer with Internet access. After receiving a passing grade and paying a small fee, a food handlers card that is valid for three years can be printed out. This card will enable you to work with food in Arizona.

Instructions

1. Schedule the test. Talk to your boss or a supervisor at your place of employment. Find out when you need to obtain the food handlers card and give the earliest possible date that you will have it. Set aside at least two hours during the week to take the test. Ask whether the company will reimburse you for the required test fee. Most companies will do this so it is worth asking.

2. Register for the test. Go to the Arizona Food Handlers website and click the "Register" tab at the top toolbar. Enter your required personal information and click the yellow "Register" button. Check your inbox for a confirmation email. Click "Log In" and sign into your account if you already have completed the registration process.

3. Study for the test. Click the "Study Guide" tab at the top toolbar. Read over the five most missed questions and take a sample question to help prepare for the test. Click the link entitled "Arizona Food Handlers Manual" to open the PDF file. The manual consists of 12 pages and covers safety, food-borne illnesses, storage and more. Carefully read over all of the material and take notes on words that are in bold print. Print out the manual if you want to study away from a computer and highlight important information on paper. Open the eFoodhandlers manual to read an overview of the course. Read the optional document on choking when you are done.

4. Take the food handlers' test. Click the "Take Test" tab at the top toolbar. Read over the directions and the first question. Choose an answer and click the yellow "Submit" button. There are 32 questions and a score of 17 is a passing grade. You can take a test up to four times in a 24-hour time period if you are unable to pass on the first attempt.

5. Submit your payment. Click the "Pay Fee" tab at the top toolbar. Select your purchase options, enter your payment information and click "Submit."

6. Print your food handlers card. Click the "Print Certificate" tab. Select which documents you want to print. This includes a food handlers card, certificate or badge. Print as many copies that are necessary. Show your employer a copy of the card as proof that you passed the test.
