Troubleshoot A Magic Chef

Magic Chef ovens were produced by Whirlpool but are no longer a part of their product line. Fortunately, Magic Chef ranges are similar to the current line of Whirlpool products and use some of the same parts. When your Whirlpool Magic Chef range has a problem, following a few simple troubleshooting steps before calling a repair technician can save you time, money and burned dinners.

Instructions

1. Check the position of your Magic Chef oven racks. Using a rack in an incorrect position causes problems such as burnt or undercooked food. It also has an effect on the cooking time of certain dishes. Position the racks high for broiling and toasting wile using the middle position for baking and the lowest positions for roasting.

2. Check your oven tools, such as baking dishes and roasting pans, for a proper fit. In order for the Magic Chef to function properly, air needs to be able to flow around the tool. If your oven baking tools are too large, this blocks air flow and results in burnt or undercooked food. Also make sure that the food fits in and on the dish properly, with space given as per the recipe if necessary.

3. Verify that you have selected the right baking temperature. Certain types of recipes, such as cakes and baked goods, provide alternate cooking instructions for baking at high altitudes, so make sure you are using the correct set of instructions for your location.

4. Check the seal round your oven door to make sure it is intact, and avoid opening the door excessively during operation. This causes heat to escape from the oven, resulting in unevenly cooked food.
