Troubleshoot A Ge Hotpoint Washer

GE Hotpoint Washers are some of the best appliances out there because of their well designed features and long lifespan. Like anything else, some problems could happen from time to time. Making repairs on your GE Hotpoint Washer may be something you can do, or it may require calling a professional to do the work for you. Here are some troubleshooting tips to try out first.

Instructions

1. Check the washer for problems if it is not filling with water. The problem is likely the water valve not being turned on, the screen filters in the washer need to be cleaned out or there may be a problem with your water supply from outside lines. Check these areas first according to your owner's manual.

2. Spinning washers that do not pump water out are a common problem associated with a clogged drain line. Open the main access panel with the power off to the washer and remove the rubber hose connecting the pump to the outer tub. Remove any clothing or items clogging this tube with pliers.

3. Replace the pump from the washer if the washer doesn't pump or spin as this means the washer has a frozen pump pulley. Remove the pump and try to rotate the pulley by hand. If it doesn't turn easily, it's frozen and needs to be replaced.

4. Balance loads better in the GE Highpoint washer if you hear a load thumping noise when the load is spinning. This signifies that the loan is unbalanced and needs to be redistributed. Stop the cycle, redistribute the clothing and then restart the machine.

5. Inspect hoses in the system if you have a leaking washer. Check the hot and cold water fill hoses and the main tub seal for any leaks and replace as necessary. A leaking pump, though, means the pump itself needs to be repaired.

6. Call a professional appliance repair person for any electrical repairs needed. Only professionals should replace appliance parts, unless you have the experience to do so.
