Troubleshoot A Hotpoint Range

If your range has been converted to LPG, check there's gas in the tank.

Hotpoint manufactures ranges in both electric-fueled and gas-fueled models. The natural gas-fueled models can be converted to Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG.) Most problems with Hotpoint ranges are related to the food not being cooked properly. Other problems can include the range not functioning properly and that's usually because of fuel issues like a tripped breaker in the case of electric, or the pilot not being lit in the case of gas.

Instructions

1. Set the oven controls properly if food doesn't broil or bake right. Turn the knob all the way to the "Broil" position when broiling. Try a different shelf level/position if the cooking results aren't what you expected. Use the included broiling pan, not an aftermarket pan. Always slit aluminum foil when broiling with a Hotpoint range for best results.

2. Preheat the oven when baking or roasting. Get the temperature up to the desired cooking temperature before you place the food in the oven cavity.

3. Firmly plug the coils into the receptacles on the electric stovetop if the units don't appear to function at all. Set the controls correctly and make sure the drip pans are in place. Verify that circuit breakers are not tripped if the electric version of the range fails to come on.

4. Light the pilot on the gas-version stovetop if the burner won't light. Lift the cooktop and hold a match by the pilot. It is between the front and rear burners. Check that the gas is switched on if the pilot won't light. There should be a gas tap on the wall nearby. If your range has been converted to LPG, verify that there is gas in the tank.
