Troubleshoot A Hotpoint Electric Stove

Hotpoint appliances are part of a General Electric brand that includes dishwashers, microwaves, refrigerators, trash compactors, washers, dryers and ovens. Hotpoint appliances are available for purchase in select department, appliance and home retail stores, as well as online. The Hotpoint electric stove is a free-standing range that is available in a variety of sizes to fit in different spaces. While the stove should function well under typical circumstances, problems may happen occasionally. If this occurs, some troubleshooting efforts may be useful in determining the source of the problem and helping individuals locate a resolution.

Instructions

1. Connect the Hotpoint stove to a working power supply if the stove does not function. Remove any other appliances from the electrical circuit and replace the fuse or circuit breaker if necessary.

2. Select cookware with a flat bottom and a diameter that matches the stove's surface units if cooking takes a long time or cannot maintain a rolling boil. Increase the cooking temperature selection.

3. Reduce the cooking temperature if food on the stove is cooking too quickly or is burning. Monitor food closely during the cooking process.

4. Avoid sliding cookware across the stove surface if scratches appear on the cooktop surface. Wipe the bottom of pans prior to use to remove any small, rough particles that may scratch the surface.

5. Wipe up food residue or spills as they occur if areas of discoloration appear on the cooktop. This is a result of the food residue heating up during the cooking process.
