Hot tub with clean impellers
There is something intensely relaxing and refreshing about stepping into a bubbling hot tub and settling back into the warm water. Your troubles melt away, and you can enjoy life again for a little while. Yet all of that will quickly disappear if you sit back to enjoy your soak, only to notice bits and pieces of scum floating around in your water. This never has to happen to you again if you follow these simple directions at least twice a month to keep your impellers and pipes clean and fresh.
Instructions
1. Fill the tub with warm water 2 inches above the air openings. If you can save the water after your last tub,l it will save on energy costs. Make sure no oils or salts were used.
2. Add 2 tsp. of dishwasher detergent and 20 oz. of household bleach. The detergent will remove any of the scum that has built up, and the bleach will disinfect and sanitize the internal water system of your hot tub.
3. Close off any air openings by turning them clockwise, and turn on the hot tub motor to its highest setting. Allow it to run between 5 and 10 minutes to flush out the system and clean out any scum and mildew that may be hiding.
4. Drain the tub thoroughly and rinse with a little warm water. Follow up by spraying around the waterline a little bathroom cleaner that is safe for hot-tub surfaces. Wipe it down with a microfiber cloth and rinse.
