Maytag Dishwasher 7560 Repair Tips

Maytag was an independent company until 2006 and is now a brand of appliances sold by the Whirlpool Corporation. The 7560 model dishwasher is an older dishwasher that Whirlpool no longer sells. You can still, however, get this dishwasher serviced and find replacement parts for it. If you do own this model, troubleshoot and repair minor issues yourself to avoid service technician fees.

Not Draining or Filling

If the model 7560 dishwasher is not draining, verify that the wash cycle is actually finished, and remove any clogs or lime buildup from the drainage hose. Inspect the pump, the motor and the motor belt. The pump is located beneath the spray arm. If any of the components are broken or rusted, replace the pump. Remove the front panel of your dishwasher, and examine the motor and the belt. If the belt is broken, replace it. Try to spin the motor. If it won't spin or is rusted, replace it. If the dishwasher won't fill, turn the water supply valve to the "On" position, and unkink the water inlet hose if bent. Remove any clogs from the hose. Find the float switch, which is located on the floor of the dishwasher. See if this component is stuck. If it is, push down on it to release it, or replace it if it won't move at all.

Power

Your Maytag dishwasher will not run during a power outage. If the power is not out, check the circuit breaker and reset if tripped. Replace any burnt-looking fuses or ones with broken wires. Plug the dishwasher into a live outlet. You can test the outlet with another appliance. Take off the front panel of the dishwasher, and examine the wires. If any are frayed or broken, replace them. Look at the switch, which generally has four wires connected by a plastic component on one end. Replace this item if damaged. Clean the door gaskets if the door doesn't close properly.

Drying

Use a rinse aid to help with the drying process. Plasticware normally isn't completely dry after a cycle. Test the heating element, which is the black coil that runs along the bottom of your dishwasher. Use a ohmmeter, and see if you get a reading between infinity and zero. If you get any other reading, replace the heating element. Check the heater fan, and replace if damaged. If all of these items are working, replace the thermostat.

Cleaning

Avoid overloading your dishwasher to prevent dishes from hitting against each other and breaking. Do not block the sprayer arm, or your dishes won't clean properly. If food remains on your model 7560 dishwasher, check the water temperature. Test the kitchen water temperature by turning on the hot water and placing a thermometer under the running water. If the temperature is below 120 degrees Fahrenheit, increase the water temperature on your water heater. Use a water pressure gauge to see if the water pressure is at least 30 psi. If not, wait for the water pressure to return to normal before using the dishwasher.
