Thermador founder William Cranstan began his career manufacturing electric heaters in 1916. As the company expanded, so did its product line. Ovens came into operation in 1947 when Thermador designed the first integrated wall oven. This style of oven was a favorite of TV chef Julia Child and seen on her cooking show. The C-line models were double ovens no longer in production. Though the oven does most of the cleaning for you once you set it up, you can still take some preliminary cleaning actions.
Instructions
1. Slide the racks out of the ovens. Set them in the sink and scrub them down with dish soap. Leave the soap on as you clean the ovens.
2. Open the top oven and scrub down the inside of the door with dish soap. Use a textured pad to remove stubborn debris. Wipe around the oven opening as well. Repeat the process with the bottom oven.
3. Clean up any wet grease or spillage inside the ovens with a paper towel.
4. Close the oven door and set the control to "Self-clean." Clean only one oven at a time. When setting the self-clean function, choose the top oven first and allow the process to run. Once complete, reset "self-clean" to work on the bottom oven. The process takes three hours per oven.
5. Rinse the oven racks thoroughly as you wait for the self-cleaning to finish. Lay the racks on towels and allow them to dry.
6. Wipe the inside of both ovens out with paper towels once they cool, then reinstall the racks.
