Install Fittings on a Teflon Hose
Teflon hoses are commonly used in the mechanics of motorcycles, cars and aircraft. When there is a leak in a hose, it could result in serious operational problems in the mechanical system. In order to repair it, you will need to assemble the fittings properly and securely onto the Teflon hose. This can be done in a few simple steps and will give you peace of mind to know that your car or motorcycle mechanical systems are safe.
Instructions
1. Locate the three-piece fittings that will be assembled onto the Teflon hose and put it aside. The smallest fitting is the middle fitting and the largest one is the top fitting. The remaining fitting is the outer fitting.
2. Slide the outer fitting over the stainless steel line.
3. Feather the stainless steel braiding before inserting the PTFE line. The PTFE line is the middle part of the fitting. It has to slide down to the middle part of the fitting and extend about 1/8 inch from the middle of the fitting. This is so that it can be opened and used to grip against the fitting top.
4. Insert the end of the fitting through the middle part until it reaches the PTFE line. The PTFE line will open up, allow the top part of the fitting to be snapped firmly into place.
5. Seal the top of the fitting by tightening it in place. Wrap a rag around the fitting top and use a wrench to tighten it. This will prevent scratches on the fitting from the wrench tool.
