Sharpen A Global Knife

The good news about Global knives is they stay sharp for a very long time. Frequent sharpening is not needed. Global knives are known to stay sharp due to a combination of the elements: molybdenum and vanadium.Global knives are one of the most expensive knives you can purchase for your kitchen, so make sure you use the proper equipment when you sharpen them. Follow the steps below for proper sharpening and maintenance of your knives.

Instructions

1. Use a universal knife sharpener, like the Global Minosharp knife sharpener. It contains two slots that you pass your blade through.

2. Simply run your knife through the first slot for a couple of passes. This first slot has a more course grit that removes any major dings or nicks on your blade.

3. Run your knife in the second slot which contains a finer grit to make a more exact edge. Wipe your blade clean before using on food.

4. Purchase a diamond sharpening steel rod, if you want to use a one-step sharpening device. They are usually more expensive, but easier to use.

5. To use a diamond sharpener rod, take the rod and hold the handle so the steel is pointing away from your body--at a perpendicular angle.

6. With the blade of the knife facing your body, rest it on the steel rod on an angle. Run the blade of the knife down the the base of the rod with a sweeping motion. Repeat this action on each side.
