Clean A Magic Chef Oven

Clean a Magic Chef Oven

Magic Chef offers a wide variety of electric and gas ovens, with or without a self-cleaning feature. Everyday use and spillovers can leave baked-on food residue on the oven floor and window. Wipe up spills soon after the oven cools to prevent a tougher problem later. Clean your Magic Chef oven every two or three months to keep it looking like new.

Instructions

Manual Cleaning

1. Fill a bowl with non-sudsy ammonia.

2. Place a cookie sheet inside the Magic Chef oven and set the bowl of ammonia on top.

3. Close the oven door and leave it overnight. The ammonia vapors will soften any baked-on residue.

4. Put of a pair of kitchen gloves to protect your hands. Open the oven door and carefully remove the cookie sheet and bowl of ammonia. Avoid breathing the fumes, which may be strong when you open the door.

5. Remove the oven racks and wash them in a sink full of warm water and one or two tablespoons of dish soap. Rinse well and allow the racks to dry.

6. Fill a bucket with warm water. Dip a sponge in the bucket of water and wipe away the softened residue from the oven surface. Rinse the sponge in the bucket as often as necessary and refill it with clean water if needed.

7. Dry the inside of your Magic Chef oven with a towel and replace the racks.

Self-cleaning

8. Turn off the oven light and remove the broiler pan and oven racks.

9. Use dish soap or a nonabrasive cleaner, warm water and a sponge to wipe grease spills from the oven floor and clean the oven's door, frame and around the gasket. Don't wipe the gasket, which is the seal around the oven door and window.

10. Rinse the oven door, frame, and around the gasket with clean water and a sponge.

11. Close the oven door and slide the lock lever to the right to lock the oven. Press the Clean button.

12. Press the up or down arrows on the range's control pad to choose a cleaning level. Light soil takes two hours, medium soil takes three hours and heavy soil takes four hours. The cycle starts four seconds after a cleaning level is chosen.

13. About an hour after the cleaning cycle ends, the oven will be cool and the door will unlock. Remove ash from the oven by wiping it up with a damp cloth.
