A wet bar is essentially having your own little bar station in your home. There is no need for it to be little, though. Wet bars can be designed to fit any space with numerous options and styles. Structure
A wet bar in its most basic form is simply a counter with a small sink and some shelves for bottles and glasses. You can set up the basic version or custom design it to fit your partying needs.
Aside from the sink and shelves, other items like a refrigerator and dishwasher can be very handy. These can be the full-size appliance you use in your kitchen or a smaller size to fit the space you've allocated for your wet bar. If you entertain on a large scale frequently, the dishwasher could be invaluable. A mini fridge is typically not too expensive and can be a good way to keep all the items needed to make any drink on hand even if they need to be refrigerated.
Designing your mini fridge is a great opportunity to show your partying style. You could use mirrors and retro features to entertain like the Rat Pack. Perhaps your friends prefer to drink Scotch neat or a martini in a more classic wood-paneled environment. For a single girl the use of neon lights and sparkle can bring the club home. It is your space so be as creative as you can with your design.
Stocking it
Stocking a wet bar will depend on your entertaining style. People who entertain frequently on a large scale, maybe even hiring a bartender on occasion, want to have every type of alcohol on hand needed to mix common drinks---and not only the alcohol but the glasses the drinks are served in, like champagne flutes or highball glasses.
If you entertain on a smaller scale or just like a nice cold glass of something when you get home, you may want to keep only a few good bottles of the usuals around. Instead of classic glassware you may find some collectibles that go with the overall theme of your wet bar.
