A non-RV holding tank.
Beneath most recreational vehicles are liquid holding tanks with separate lines from different areas leading in an out of the tanks. A gray water wank has inlets from the sinks. A black water tank has inlets from the toilet and is easily identified by its larger 3.5-inch piping going in and out of it. These tanks are drained through the same outlet hole. The third tank is for freshwater that runs into the sink or shower, where it drains to become gray water.
Instructions
1. Shut off all incoming water.
2. Drain the freshwater tank if there is any water in it. There may be a drain valve. Alternatively, remove the lower hose and drain the water from the tank, or run the water into the sink.
3. Unclamp and remove all inlet and outlet hoses. There is likely one of each.
4. Remove any bolts or bolted straps holding the freshwater tank.
5. Lower the tank.
6. Push the new tank into place. Another person can help with this, or a floor jack may be handy. Reattach the removed bolts and secure the tank in place.
7. Apply non-toxic pipe threading compound to the inlet and outlet ports on the tank to prevent leaks.
8. Push the outlet and inlet hoses into place. Tighten down the screw clamps with the drill or screwdriver.
9. Let the compound dry as specified on the sealant.
10. Check for leaks.
