Install A Water Tank In An Rv

A water tank in an RV holds the fresh water used in the sinks, shower, toilet and maybe an ice-maker. It needs to be located somewhere where it can easily be hooked up to the fresh-water lines in the RV. The RV will have a spot specifically designed to hold the appropriate tank. The water must be pressurized with a water pump installed, per manufacturer's instructions, between the RV plumbing and the tank. There are many different types and manufacturers of tanks and pumps, so find out what size and configuration you will need and follow the individual instructions as required.

Instructions

1. Find the location of your fresh-water holding tank by looking underneath the RV or in the RV's manual. Place the new tank in this spot and secure in place using the hardware or straps and according to the directions provided.

2. Install the water pump according to the directions provided. Use the wire stripper, wire nuts, electrical tape and screwdrivers to attach power to the pump unit with the appropriate wire, as required.

3. Attach all the plumbing lines to the tank per the manufacturer's instructions. Attach the fresh-water hose to the tank and to the RV's inlet valve.

4. Fill the water tank and run each fresh-water outlet to make sure the lines are pressurized and water is flowing.
