A KitchenAid dishwasher that does not drain can cause a mess both inside and outside the dishwasher. Opening a nondraining dishwasher can cause water to fall to the kitchen floor. The dishes inside a dishwasher that does not drain will not get as clean as they should, thanks to the fact that they are surrounded by debris-filled water. The good news when dealing with a dishwasher that does not drain is that it is usually not difficult to remedy the problem.
Instructions
1. Wait for the "Clean" light to come on, showing that the cycle is complete. If you opened the dishwasher before the cycle was complete, close the door and press "Start/Resume."
2. Remove the knockout plug from the garbage disposal if you have recently hooked up the dishwasher to the disposal. Place a screwdriver on the edge of the disposal's connection valve and tap it lightly with a hammer to remove the knockout plug.
3. Straighten the drain hose and look for kinks. A drain hose that is pinched can make it difficult for water to flow through it.
4. Move items away from the dishwasher drain. These items may be blocking the flow of water.
5. Flip the switch to turn on your garbage disposal to dispose of food and make sure the disposal is not blocked.
