Find a Weekend Job
Tough economic times call for a resourceful approach to making ends meet. Whether you're a student looking for extra income, or your full-time job doesn't provide enough income to sustain you, a weekend job can provide the extra cash you need. Many industries need help on the weekends, but if you're taking on a second job, try to find something you'll enjoy doing so you don't burn yourself out.
Instructions
1. Apply to retailers at your local mall or shopping center. Since most people work during the week, they spend their weekends doing necessary shopping, making retail one of the busiest weekend industries. Many retailers look for enthusiastic employees who don't mind giving up their nights and weekends.
2. Inquire at both fast food and family dining restaurants. Because there are so many people on the go doing their weekend shopping, the restaurant industry is also busy on the weekends. Food industry jobs include dishwashers, cooks, servers, bartenders and hosts.
3. Check out part-time office work. A lot of businesses hold limited hours on the weekend and may be in need of part-time workers to answer phones, wait on customers and schedule appointments.
4. Invest in an at-home party plan business. At-home party plan businesses, like Pampered Chef, Princess House and Avon, allow you to work at your leisure while interacting with other people who share a interest. There are hundreds of at-home party plan companies that are always looking for consultants to join their team, but note that the majority of these companies require you to invest in one of their product packs in order to get started.
5. Inquire at the local museum, library, zoo or historical society. Like the retail industry, many public interest places pack in patrons on the weekend, since it's the only time they can get out of the house.
6. Ask for an application at the local hospital or medical facility. Hospitals run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and often need extra staff to help out with janitorial duties like laundry and cleaning, in the kitchen, in the pharmacy and at reception desks.
7. Check out janitorial jobs. Many busy office buildings operate on long hours, making it difficult for the janitorial staff to do full cleaning jobs during the week. Weekend cleaning may require extra janitorial staffing.
8. Consider freelancing at home. There are a variety of online jobs these days for writers, chat-room monitors and forum moderators, to name a few. Spending a few hours working from your computer will not only give you the added benefit of extra cash, but allows you to relax in the comfort of your own home.
