Use borax to soften water.
Hard water is water with excess amounts of minerals in it. These minerals make it more difficult for cleaners to do their job. However, cleaners can be made with easy-to-find ingredients that will be just as effective as commercial cleaners. The key to a homemade cleaner for hard water is borax. Borax is a natural water softener found in the laundry aisle of supermarkets. It is also a disinfectant, making it an ideal addition to homemade cleaners.
