Use A Flavorwave Oven

The FlavorWave oven makes cooking quick and simple.

The FlavorWave oven is a cooking device that uses infrared technology to cook food in half the time that it takes to cook in a regular oven. The FlavorWave is the original model of the cooking system created by Thane Housewares, which was sold on television infomercials. There are many desirable characteristics to the oven in addition to its fast heating times, such as producing minimal heat in the summer months. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Clean the oven thoroughly. Use warm, soapy water to clean the base and liner pans, cooking dome and cooking grid. If you prefer not to wash by hand, place these parts into your dishwashing machine. Dry thoroughly before using.

2. Find a stable location. Place the base of the unit on a counter top that is sturdy and free of clutter. Put the handles of the liner in the down position and insert the pan into the base.

3. Place the cooking grid on the liner pan prior to adding food. The cooking grid is dual level and can be adjusted according to the food that you are cooking. Place the cooking grid with the grid handles up to keep your food further away from the heating element, or place it within the liner with the handles down so that your food is closer to the heating element. Once the grid is properly in place, set your food on the grid directly or on a glass or metal pan.

4. Put on the cooking dome. Lower it over the grid and the liner so that they are housed safely within the dome. At the top of the dome there is an opening. Place the heating and control unit into the opening and turn it clockwise so that it locks in place on the dome.

5. Plug the FlavorWave into a grounded outlet. On the control assembly, depress the "Cook Time" button so that the "Min" indicator flashes in the display panel. Enter the cook time by pressing three numbers to set hours and minutes or two numbers to set minutes only.

6. Adjust the power level before cooking. Locate the power button on the panel and press it. The automatic setting will be on "Hi." To lower the setting, select numbers from 1 to 9. Pressing 9 will give you the second highest setting and represents 90 percent of the maximum setting, pressing 8 represents 80 percent of maximum and so forth.

7. Press "Start" to begin cooking. When the cooking time has expired, the oven will turn itself off automatically. If you want to pause the oven while it is cooking, press the "Pause/Clear" button once. If your food is finished before the automatic shut-off press the "Pause/Clear" button twice to shut down the oven.

8. Clean and dry the unit. Unplug the unit prior to cleaning and allow it to cool. Remove the heater/control panel from the top of the dome and wipe its outer surface with a damp cloth. Clean the cooking dome, grid and pan in the same manner that you used to clean it prior to cooking.
