Troubleshooting: GE Quiet Power 3 Dishwasher
The General Electric Quiet Power 3 dishwasher has several features, such as crystal and china, pots and pans, antibacterial, speed and normal wash cycles, as well as a delay dry option and a prescrub wash for heavily soiled dishes. You can purchase the dishwasher online or in select home retail, appliance or department stores, and generally it should perform well with typical maintenance and care. If issues do arise with the dishwasher, you may need to do some troubleshooting to find the source of the problem.
Instructions
1. Make sure the GE Quiet Power 3 is completely connected to a power outlet if it isn't working. Reset the fuse or circuit breaker as necessary. Close the dishwasher door until it latches, as the unit will not operate if the door is open.
2. Select a new wash cycle if the "Start/Reset" light is blinking. This indicates that the "Start/Reset" button was pressed during a cycle, which cancels the current wash cycle. Choose a new cycle prior to pressing "Start/Reset."
3. Run the hot water at the sink until the water is consistently hot if items in the dishwasher aren't clean. Turn off the water in the sink and start the dishwasher. This brings up the temperature in the dishwasher, aiding in the cleaning process.
4. Use the garbage disposer in the sink, and clean the air gap if the dishwasher is not cleaning well or there seems to be water left in the dishwasher after use. Make sure there is space between each dish and the dishwasher is not overloaded.
5. Add sufficient dishwasher detergent, and select a heavy wash or prewash cycle if there are spots or a filmy substance on items after washing. Add rinse aid to the dispenser. If there was not enough detergent added to the initial wash, wait for the dishwasher to enter the main wash cycle, typically about 20 minutes after starting the unit. Open the dishwasher door and add 2 cups of white vinegar to the dishwasher tub. Close the door and restart the dishwasher. You can also use citric acid crystals instead of vinegar. They can be purchased at most hardware or home repair stores.
6. Pump excess suds out of the dishwasher by opening up the dishwasher and letting it sit for awhile. Shut the door and push "Start/Reset" to drain the water. Wait 30 seconds and push "Start/Reset' again. This will drain the remaining water and suds. Note that you should only automatic dishwasher detergents that have been approved by GE.
7. Make sure the water valve is turned on if the dishwasher appears to be working but does not fill with water. Straighten out the water inlet hose.
