Trouble-shoot your unkept Frigidaire dishwasher.
Families rely on their Frigidaire dishwasher to clean their dishes after meal so they can focus on other, more interesting, activities. A malfunctioning dishwasher doesn't always need the attention of a qualified technician; troubleshooting guides enable you to rule out common problems, one-by-one, until the appliance is repaired. If the dishwasher still won't start at the end of the troubleshooting guide you should contact a professional technician to examine the appliance. The exact location of buttons and parts may vary depending on your exact model of dishwasher.
Instructions
1. Check the controls are set for a cleaning cycle: don't press "Plate Warmer" if you want the dishwasher to perform a cleaning cycle. Remember to press "Start" when you are ready to begin after adding detergent. Turn the main dial to change the cleaning options.
2. Hold down the "Unlock" or padlock icon button for a few seconds, canceling the "Child Lock" feature. This safety measure prevents children making changes to the controls while the dishwasher is cleaning or starting the appliance while unsupervised. The controls won't respond until the lock is canceled. Not all Frigidaire appliances are fitted with this feature.
3. Re-arrange the items inside the dishwasher, making sure nothing is blocking the spray arms or leaning against the back of the door. The dishwasher produces poor results when the spray arms are unable to turn. The appliance won't start unless the door is completely closed.
4. Pull the dishwasher forward so you can see the electrical cord and water hoses. Ensure the cord is still connected to an outlet and the power is switched on. Straighten out any kinks in the water hoses so water can flow freely in and out of the appliance. Check the water shut-off valves are open if you have recently had the appliance serviced or moved.
5. Reset any tripped circuit breakers or replace any blown fuses in your home's electrical circuits. You will notice the power to other appliances cuts out when a breaker trips or fuse blows. Contact an electrician if you are unsure reset a breaker or replace a domestic fuse.
