Installation Of Dishwasher Hoses

Installation of Dishwasher Hoses

Patents for dishwashers were started in 1850, but it wasn't until 1886 that the first practical dishwasher was invented by Josephine Cochrane. She presented her invention to the public in 1893 at the World's Fair. To her disappointment the invention only appealed to the hotels and large restaurants. Cochrane founded a company to produce her machine, which later became KitchenAid. The dishwasher didn't catch on with the general public until it was produced in more efficient sizes for a cheaper price in the 1950s.

Instructions

1. Shut off the water to the house.

2. Make sure you have the hot water hose. Some hoses are not made of proper material to handle hot water, and you don't want it to melt. Screw one end of hot water hose to the indicated hot water connector on the dishwasher.

3. Screw the other end of the hot water hose to the indicated hot water spigot in the wall. Be sure that the hose is not going to be pulled tight once the dishwasher is placed all the way in its slot. The hose should create a gentle curve.

4. Screw one end of the cold water hose to the indicated cold water connector on the dishwasher.

5. Screw the other end of the cold water hose to the indicated cold water spigot in the wall. Be sure that the hose hangs the same as the hot water hose, forming a gentle curve.

6. Run the drain line to the area under the sink. Then secure your dishwasher according to manufacturer directions.

7. Attach the rubber hose connector to the dishwasher connector on the pipe underneath the sink. Use a spring hose clamp to secure it in place.

8. Attach the end of the drain hose to the rubber hose connector. Use a spring hose clamp to secure it in place.

9. Check for leaks and adjust if necessary.
