Clean A Stove Top

Clean a Stove Top

Cleaning your stove top can be a heavy chore if you do not do it often. The ideal thing to do is clean it up after you use it every top to avoid stuck on messes. When you are in a hurry that may be hard to avoid or when there are multiple cooks in one household.

Instructions

1. Depending on what type of stove you have in your kitchen there are certain ways that you are going to want to care for it. Here are some helpful tips to clean your stove top. Keep in mind that you may need to disconnect the power plug to your stove while cleaning.

Before you begin to clean your stove top you should remove any removable pieces such as the drip pans, burners, racks, knobs etc. Place them in a sink full of hot soapy water to sit while you clean the rest of the stove top. Wash them well and then set aside to dry. Some of the items may need extra cleaning, so you can use the same cleaner that you are using to clean your stove top and allow it to sit as according to directions and then scrub them well.

2. If you already have a favorite stove top cleaner then spray it on and allow it to sit for a few minutes to soak in. A couple of my favorite cleansers are...

Easy Off Stove Top Cleanser

Bar Keeper's Friend

Goo Gone Multi-Purpose Cleaner

Fantastik

409

Simple Green

The cleanser that you choose to clean your stove top all depends on the type of stove that you have. you are going to want to make sure that it does not scratch the surface. So choose wisely and read the directions and cautions on the packages before purchasing.

3. Once the cleanser has sat for an amount of time scrub it with a soft non-scratchable sponge. Again if you have a glass top stove or a flat surface stove use caution when using sponges. Make sure that they do not scratch the surface. You may want to use just a wet washcloth or cleaner wipes. You may also want to wear gloves to do this to prevent any cleanser irrating your skin or developing dry skin. You may have to repeat these steps a few times depending on how bad the build up is. Each time leave it on for a while and allow it to soak in. You may even want to soak it over night and then repeat the steps in the morning.

4. After you have cleaned the stove top as best you can reassemble the items and then wipe away any residue that may have been left behind from the cleanser. Here are some helpful tips to help you clean your stove top....

* No matter what type of stove that you have, when you are cooking keep a washcloth handy to clean up any spills while you are cooking. It is much easier to clean the mess right away then allow it to sit for any amount of time. You can also choose to have a container of cleaning wipes in the kitchen to clean up any spills right away.

5. * For glass stove tops try Weiman Cook Top Glass Cook Top Cleaner. It is a great cleanser and comes along with a safe scrubber. It is easy to find at stores such as Wal-Mart and works great!

* If you have a flat surface stove top, be careful not to use any harsh chemicals on it or scrub it. Doing this can damage it. So instead use gentle liquid cleansers and always clean up any spills right away or at least once the stove top has cooled down after cooking.

6. * Use the powdered cleaner Bar Keeper's Friend. This one is great and does not scratch any surface. There are so many different cleansers on the market today that promise great results, but this one really delivers them!

* For a great homemade cleanser make a solution of water and lemon juice about half a cup to two cups of water, and place it into a spray bottle. Use it to clean your stove, appliances, and counter tops. It really works great as a degreaser and smells fantastic!

7. * If there is a lot of build up on your stove. spray oven cleaner on it and allow it to sit for the time it species on the package. Then scrub it off when the time is up and if there is still a lot of build up, repeat.

* Line your drip pans with aluminum foil after you have properly cleaned them. This is an inexpensive way to keep your stove clean. Once the aluminum foil becomes soiled simply remove it and replace with new aluminum foil.

8. * Remember the best way to clean the stove top is to do it right away! Every mess should be cleaned right away to avoid any built on mess alter on. it is quick and easy and your stove will thank you. This way it will not become unsightly.
