4. Replace the basket and pump tube on the coffee pot. Add equal parts distilled white vinegar and water to the machine and turn it on. Let the coffee percolator cycle through, then empty the pot. Fill the pot with plain water, run through a second cycle and then empty the pot. The hot water removes the vinegar taste from the percolator.


5. Wipe down the outside of the pot with plain white vinegar and a soft cloth. The vinegar removes smudges, fingerprints and other stains from the percolator, without damaging the surface. Buff the surface with the cloth until it's shiny and free from dirt.
