Kenmore dishwashers are manufactured by the Whirlpool Corporation. These dishwashers require periodic cleanings to ensure the best performance. If your dishwasher is leaving spots or grit on your dishes, you can alleviate the problem by removing any debris caught in the drain assembly. Clean around the dishwasher drain cover and then remove it to access the drain itself. Removing the drain cover on a Kenmore dishwasher is a simple process you can complete quickly even if you don't have appliance repair experience.
Instructions
1. Unplug the Kenmore dishwasher from its electrical outlet or move the circuit breaker switch that corresponds to your dishwasher into the "Off" position.
2. Take the bottom rack out of the Kenmore dishwasher. Pull the rack forward and lift the left side to unseat the wheels from the track; use the same process to unseat the wheels on the right side of the rack. Set the bottom dishwasher rack aside.
3. Locate the dishwasher drain cover below the spray arm. Use a Torx screwdriver to remove the screws around the top of the drain cover; set the screws aside.
4. Lift up on the drain cover to free it from the floor of the Kenmore dishwasher.
