You will need pliers to repair your Maytag dishwasher.
Both the top and bottom spray arms in a Maytag dishwasher need to function correctly in order to get dishes clean inside the unit. A broken top arm prevents streams of hot water from reaching some of the dishes, leaving them dirty. Remove the broken piece and install a new top arm to repair your Maytag dishwasher.
Instructions
1. Unplug the power cord or turn off the breaker connected to the power outlet for the dishwasher.
2. Open the Maytag dishwasher door. Slide the lower rack out and remove it.
3. Insert the tip of the flat-blade screwdriver into the gap between the upper rack end caps and the rack rails on each side. Twist the screwdriver to remove the end caps.
4. Pull the upper rack out and remove it. Set the rack on the floor with the bottom facing up.
5. Grasp the center of the broken spray arm connector with the pliers. Pull straight up to detach it from the rack.
6. Position the new spray arm onto the upper rack arm hub. Press down until the spray arm locks into place.
7. Replace the upper rack. Insert the end caps on the rack rails. Press firmly on the end caps until they snap into position.
8. Replace the lower rack.
