Find Used Kitchen Appliances

Save money with a used refrigerator.

Kitchen appliances can be quite expensive when purchased new. Whether you're looking for one appliance in particular or need to refurnish your entire kitchen, you can save some money by buying used. You can often find good deals on high-quality appliances, provided the previous owner took good care of them. Here are some ways to find used kitchen appliances.

Instructions

1. Large thrift stores like Goodwill generally do not carry used appliances, so it's better to visit websites such as Appliance Exchange, which post listings of used kitchen appliances. You can browse for particular types of appliances, including refrigerators, freezers and dishwashers. You can also narrow your search to get more specific results.

2. Go to any personal sales in your neighborhood, such as yard, estate and garage sales. You can find good prices on solid appliances at these sales, particularly when the person holding the sale is moving. He is generally eager to unload everything, so you may be able to score a spectacular deal.

3. Browse thrift stores in your area. Consignment shops often feature kitchen sections that feature second-hand appliances. Make sure to test the appliance in question prior to purchasing it.

4. Contact kitchen-appliance stores like Crate and Barrel and ask if they have any floor models for sale. Sometimes these stores will offer great deals on such items, as they are in fact used--but only very lightly.

5. Browse the Craigslist listings for your area for used kitchen appliances. You can usually find them in the Household subcategory of the For Sale listings.

eBay and similar auction sites sometimes have great deals on used kitchen appliances, but be aware that shipping charges can greatly increase the cost. If that's the case, try to shop locally instead.
