The General Electric Company (GE), headquartered in New York, produces consumer appliances, including dishwashers. It created the GE Triton XL dishwasher, which features the QuietPower III sound package. This technology reduces the noise produced by your dishwasher. GE no longer manufactures this product, but you can still purchase replacement parts for it. Troubleshoot and repair common issues with your dishwasher to avoid service fees.
Cleaning Issues
If your dishes are not getting clean, check the water pressure. Turn on your faucet to see if the water pressure is lower than normal. If it is, wait for the pressure to increase. Insert a thermometer into the dishwasher water to check the temperature. Raise the temperature of your water heater if the water is below 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Clean out any debris from the disposer or air gap, and verify that the air gap is installed. The air gap is located on the top of the sink. Always properly load the rack so you don't block the spray arm. If you see spots on your dishes, use a rinse aid or water softener if you have hard water. Only use fresh detergent, and always use the correct amount of detergent.
Error Messages/Running Issues
If the "Start/Reset" button flashes, press the button again. You have accidentally stopped the cycle. If your dishwasher keeps beeping, completely close the GE Triton XL dishwasher door. If the dishwasher won't turn on, check that the power is on and that the dishwasher's power cord is plugged into an outlet. Try rebooting the control by turning off the dishwasher for at least 30 seconds. Reset a tripped circuit breaker, and change out a blown fuse. Unlock the control panel. Hold down the "Heated Dry" button for three seconds.
Water/Drying
If your tub won't fill with water, verify that the door is closed, and turn the water shut-off valve to the "On" position. If your dishes won't dry, use a rinse aid, and increase the water temperature. Never block the detergent cup, or you'll still have detergent in the cup after the cycle is done. Clean the drain hose if water won't drain from the tub. If the control panel lights turn off when you're selecting a setting, you took too long to make your selection.
Additional Issues
Your Triton dishwasher normally releases steam and makes some noise during the washing cycle. Always properly load your dishwasher to prevent dishes from hitting against each other. If the "Sanitized" light doesn't come on, avoid opening the door during the wash cycle. Only use the correct type of detergent to keep suds from forming. Always clean up rinse aid spills as soon as they happen. If you see gray marks on your dishes, avoid placing the dishes too near aluminum utensils. If your tub gets stained, use a mixture 1/2 cup of bleach and 3 cups of water to clean it. Use a water softener if you see a brown or yellow residue in the dishwasher.
