An Electrolux dishwasher should wash dishes quietly and efficiently for many years. If you learn the proper way to load a dishwasher rack, you can wash even more dishes per cycle. Knowing the cycles of the dishwasher operation can help you choose the right cycle for the dishes you are washing, from heavily soiled pots and pans to delicate stemware. As you become familiar with the dishwasher operation, you also learn to listen for sounds that may indicate there is a problem.
Instructions
1. Scrape food particles into the garbage disposal or the trash receptacle. While you don't have to remove small bits, it is best practice to scrape all dishes. Rinse off any foods that may stain the dishes or the inside surface of the Electrolux dishwasher. This includes tomato products, vinegar, mustard, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Drain liquids from glasses and cups.
2. Place glasses, saucers, cups and other small items in the top rack of the dishwasher with open ends facing down. Load plastic items in the top rack as well. Space each item so there is room for the water to flow entirely around each dish.
3. Set large items, such as cooking pans, around the outer edge of the bottom dishwasher rack with the opening facing down. Turn pan handles so they don't interfere with the operation of the dishwasher arms. Flip the tines on the bottom rack down to make it easier to fit large items. Arrange smaller items, like serving plates, in the racks that support them.
4. Fill the silverware basket. Either place a single piece of silverware into each slot, or remove the cover and loosely place the silverware into the larger openings. Do not allow silverware to nest or it won't come clean. Place all knives point down into the knife portion of the silverware basket.
5. Pour granulated dishwasher detergent into both detergent cups to the fill line. Close the cup with the lid. If you use tabs, place one tab in the covered dispenser and close it.
6. Turn the cover to the rinse aid dispenser counterclockwise to open it. Pour rinse aid into the dishwasher to the fill line. Replace the cover and turn it clockwise to tighten it. Wipe off any spilled rinse agent. The rinse aid lasts for 35 to 140 washes in your Electrolux dishwasher, depending on the cycles you choose. Some models have an indicator light to show you when to add more rinse aid.
7. Close and lock the dishwasher door. Select the desired dishwashing cycle. Choose from heavy, auto, normal, eco, quick, delicate, stemware and rinse only. Pick either the high temperature or sanitize option. Select delayed start if you prefer. Press the "Start" button to begin washing dishes.
8. Clean the outside of the Electrolux dishwasher periodically with a damp cloth. Wipe around the door frame as well. Check for trapped bits of food in the drains. Remove debris by pulling out the filters in the bottom of the dishwasher and emptying them.
