Frigidaire Dishwasher Is Leaking Water From The Front Door

Find out why your dishwasher is leaking from the front door.

Your Frigidaire dishwasher provides convenience to your life, but if it has developed a leak, it's probably causing you to worry about whether you have to hire a serviceman to make an expensive repair. However, you can diagnose the cause of your door leak by evaluating your dishwasher and troubleshooting for a series of potential problems. Fix your Frigidaire dishwasher yourself to save money.

Detergent

The detergent you use may be the cause of your Frigidaire dishwasher's front-door leak. Only use the amount of detergent recommended in your Frigidaire manual and your water hardness. For example, model 675000607479 with soft water requires 1/4 cup of each detergent. You also need to use only fresh detergent made for dishwashers. Check to make sure the leak is not coming from the soap cup or the dispenser for the rinse aid by removing the screws that connect the inner and outer portions of the door. If the insulation between the door is wet, you need to replace the soap cup and the dispenser.

Level

Your front-door leak could be attributed to an installation that is not level. The front door should be even with the surrounding cabinet fronts. The levelers in the front of your dishwasher should provide for 5/16 inch of space below the countertop's underside to the top of the dishwasher. Remove the lower rack inside your dishwasher, and place a level on the wheel support located by the tub's bottom to check whether the dishwasher is level from the front of the dishwasher to the back. Move the levelers up or down until your level indicates the dishwasher is installed correctly at a level height.

Loading

Loading your dishwasher correctly can help prevent leaks in your Frigidaire dishwasher. Place glasses and cups on the top rack of the dishwasher outside the tines in an angled direction. Place dishes between the tines facing the spray arm on the bottom rack. If you add any dishes in the middle of the cycle, open the latch for the front door and wait a moment for the water to stop before inserting the extra dishes. Ensure that the front door is firmly closed and nothing is sticking out of the dishwasher whenever you start a cycle.

Other Problems

Your dishwasher may have a faulty seal. If you see dripping water directly under the door, this may be the problem. Tighten the latch on the door by screwing the screws tighter to help fix this problem. Replace your door gasket if the problem persists. Check the hoses and inlet valves for any additional leaks, and replace the hose or valve if you notice any holes or leaks.
