Maytag Repair Instructions
All appliance manufacturers produce manuals explaining repair their appliance. With so many different appliances available from so many different manufacturers, it is only right to expect some guidelines, in writing, in case something goes wrong. Maytag is no exception. For every product made by Maytag, there is a manual available. Most instruction manuals are given to the customer at the time of product purchase, but in the case of a missing manual, you can either obtain another one from the company, or download a copy from the Internet.
Instructions
1. Check the water hoses on your Maytag washer for leaks. Small blisters on the hoses are a sign of weakness. Maytag suggests changing your hoses every five years.
2. Make sure your Maytag washing machine is level to prevent it from rocking and banging. Adjust the front leveling legs so they are flat on the ground. Tighten the nut so the legs stay put. This prevents unnecessary vibration. If your washer has leveling legs on the back, adjust those too.
3. Check the heating element coil on your Maytag dryer if there isn't any heat. Use an ohm meter. If the heating element is burned out, you need to replace it. No heat also means a possible power problem like a blown thermal fuse, or defective wiring. Both need replacing if they go bad.
4. Unclog the vent system or replace the cycling thermostat if the dryer overheats. A clogged vent, or clogged internal ductwork, can also interfere with the machine's timing system, causing the dryer to run forever.
5. Check the wiring on the back of your Maytag range, if it stops working. If a wire is broken or burned, replace it with appliance grade wire.
6. If the bake element burns out, replace it immediately, or your oven won't bake. The element glows red as long as it's working. It is expected to last three years.
7. Check the wiring, thermostat, defrost timer, compressor, and relay if your Maytag refridgerator stops working. There is a number of possible problems to check in order to find the proper solution.
8. Turn the thermostat knob to the proper setting, if your refrigerator stops cooling, yet the refridgerator is still running. If the machine is poorly cooling, it could be heavy frost build up on the evaporator coils. Unclog any dust, lint or dirt from the condenser as a possible solution.
