Replace A Drain Tube On A Bosch Dishwasher

Bosch manufactures many different dishwasher models, including slimline as well as full-size appliances. No matter which Bosch you have, they all have one thing in common: a drain tube for getting rid of used dish water. If you notice that your Bosch drain tube has sprung a leak, you can replace the drain tube on your Bosch dishwasher yourself without having to wait for a plumber to do the job.

Instructions

1. Turn off the electrical supply for the Bosch dishwasher. Most nonportable dishwashers are hard-wired into the home electrical circuit. In these cases, the only way to turn off the power is by cutting it at the main circuit breaker. Locate the circuit that controls the dishwasher and move it to the "Off" position.

2. Open the cabinet doors underneath the sink where the dishwasher is draining. Look for the hose connected to either the tailpiece or garbage disposal underneath. Loosen the hose clamp and pull the hose out of position.

3. Remove the kick panel from the bottom of the Bosch dishwasher, just underneath the dishwasher door. On some Bosch models, you will also need to remove the toe panel, which is located just below the kick panel. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws on the sides, and then pull the panels out of position.

4. Shine the flashlight underneath the washer to locate where the other end of the drain hose connects to the pump. Unscrew the hose clamp on the end of the hose. Pull the hose off the clamp.

5. Trace the hose back to the sink, and remove any clamps holding it in place along the wall or inside any cabinets.

6. Connect one end of the new drain hose to the tailpiece or garbage disposal. Trim off the end of the hose before connecting it by using the markings etched on the hose with a utility knife. Attach the hose clamp and secure it.

7. Feed the hose through the cabinets back toward the Bosch dishwasher.

8. Connect the other end of the drain hose to the pump underneath the dishwasher. Secure it with a hose clamp.

9. Replace the toe and kick panels. Secure them with screws.

10. Replace any clamps holding the hose in place along the wall. The center part of the hose should be elevated so it is higher than both the dishwasher drain pump and the inlet on the tailpiece or garbage disposal.

11. Turn the power for the Bosch dishwasher back on.
