Clean Barbeque Grill Grates

Cook food on a clean barbque brill grate.

Cast-iron barbeque grill grates get dirty. Clean barbeque grill grates before and after grilling to prevent food and grease buildup. If the grill is subject to being wet without being dried, the grill grate also can rust. Taking steps to keep the grill clean and free of rust benefits your grilling experience and the taste of your food.

Instructions

1. Allow the barbeque grill grates to cool after cooking. Use the wire brush to scrape off grease and food.

2. Mix 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar and 1 cup water in a spray bottle. Spray the barbeque grill grates, then wipe remaining residue with paper towels. Repeat this step until all food particles are removed from the grates.

3. Use a mild dishwashing soap and sponge to clean barbeque grill grates that won't come clean with brushing and the vinegar solution. Wash the grates quickly, then use paper towels to dry.

4. Apply vegetable oil to a paper towel, then rub on the top and bottom of the grill grates.

5. Wrap the barbeque grill grates in tinfoil. Build a fire or turn on the gas grill. Place the barbeque grill grates over the flames. Close the lid and cook the grates for 10 minutes. This step is optional, but it helps the oil saturate the grates.
