Determining what is causing a dishwasher leak is the first step in fixing it.
Frigidaire dishwashers are available in a variety of styles, all of which have front-loading doors. The front doors on Frigidaire, and many other brands of electric dishwasher, typically contain the door latch mechanism, and rubber seals which are essential to an efficient and leak-free wash cycle. When problems arise with your Frigidaire dishwasher, and the door may be involved, use a process of trial and error to find and eliminate the cause.
Instructions
1. Inspect the rubber seal which runs the full distance around your Frigidaire dishwasher door, if the machine seems to be leaking. A faulty or dirty seal can allow wash water to pass through the space around the front door, and spill out onto the floor. If the seal has stuck on dirt, or food residue, use a clean cloth, dish detergent and some warm water to return it to its normal state.
2. Replace your door seal if there is any visible damage or extensive wear. Slip the door seal off the ridge on which it is mounted. Use a clean cloth, warm water and dish detergent to clean away any debris or remains of the rubber seal from the door surface. Use warm water to make your new door seal more pliable, and install it onto the seal mount in the same manner as the old seal was.
3. Inspect the door latch to see if it has become loose, or has shifted position over time. A loose or out of place door latch can cause a tiny space to form around the door seal, which in turn allows water to escape. Use your screwdriver to remove the door latch, and replace it in the proper position. Perform the same adjustment on the latch plate, to which the latch fastens when locked. Test the door.
4. Check that only electric dishwasher-specific detergent is used. Using dish soap or other detergents can cause the seals on your Frigidaire dishwasher front door to fail, and water to leak out.
