Hotpoint is a sub-brand of GE through which GE markets various kitchen appliances. Stoves are one of the major appliances sold under the Hotpoint name. Even the most well-designed stove can experience malfunctions. Learn troubleshoot a Hotpoint stove so you can get back to preparing your favorite meals and snacks.
Instructions
1. Check the front control panel of the Hotpoint stove to verify that the correct knobs are turned on. The knobs turn from low to high. When on, an indicator light is illuminated on the Hotpoint stove's front panel.
2. Clean the stove top if you notice strange smells, smoke or poor heating performance. Wipe with white vinegar to safely remove crusted food and mineral deposits. Avoid using a glass cleaner, which can leave marks and discoloration on the Hotpoint stove.
3. Clean the interior of the oven if you smell burning or notice smoke fumes emitted through the Hotpoint stove's vent. GE recommends not manually cleaning the oven with an oven cleaner. Instead, wipe the interior with an all-purpose cleaner and a wet rag. Then, remove all trays and pans and turn the stove's front latch to the right to lock. Start the stove's self-cleaning cycle by twisting the Hotpoint stove's temperature knob to "CLEAN." The self-cleaning process takes four hours and twenty minutes.
4. Check that the temperature limiter is not accidentally turned on if you find the heating performance of the stove top lacking. Hotpoint has a default temperature limiter built in to prevent the glass stove top from overheating. The limiter automatically turns on if pans or pots are not centered on the stove element, as well as if the pot doesn't have a flat bottom.
