You can remove Laticrete grout haze from the newly grouted surface.
Laticrete is a brand of epoxy grout for use on walls and floors in both indoor and outdoor projects. You apply the grout with a firm epoxy rubber float, and it dries within a matter of hours. An epoxy haze might remain on the tile or covered surface 24 hours after installation. You can remove this film of Laticrete grout to ensure that the finished product is clean and attractive. A cleaning method involving dishwasher detergent is effective for cleaning floors with Laticrete haze, while a method that involves vinegar works well on walls.
Instructions
Dishwasher Detergent for Floors
1. Combine 1/4 cup of powdered dishwasher detergent, such as Finish (Electrasol) or Cascade, and 3 1/2 gallons of warm water in a plastic bucket.
2. Soak a mop with the detergent mixture. Do not wring out the mop. Thoroughly mop the area covered with white haze.
3. Sprinkle a thin layer of silica sand over the affected area. You can purchase this sand at many hardware and home improvement stores.
4. Attach a nylon pad to the bottom of a buffing machine. Make several passes over the area covered with sand. The buffing machine will agitate the sand, which will remove the grout haze.
5. Vacuum up the sand and detergent mixture with a wet/dry vac.
6. Fill a plastic bucket with clean water and dip a second mop into the water, then wring it out.
7. Mop up any sand or detergent mixture that remains.
8. Repeat the process, if necessary.
Vinegar Solution for Walls
9. Combine 1/2 cup of vinegar and 2 gallons of water in a plastic bucket.
10. Soak a sponge with the vinegar solution. Wring out the sponge to remove most of the liquid.
11. Scrub the area that contains the white film or haze with the vinegar solution. Apply pressure to areas that are more difficult to clean.
