It's easy to adjust sound in Windows.
The sound on HP computers is controlled through the sound options in the Windows Control Panel. However, many HP laptops have a sound button on the top of the keyboard as well. If the sound button above the keyboard is off, adjusting the sound options in Windows will not fix the issue. First, make sure that any sound buttons are in the "On" position before making any changes to the sound properties in the Windows Speaker Control or the Sound Preferences in the Control Panel.
Instructions
Turn On Sound from Control Panel
1. Click "Start" and then click "Control Panel."
2. Click "Hardware and Sound" and then click "Adjust Sound Volume" under the "Sound" category heading. The volume mixer box will open.
3. Click each speaker button to toggle the sound on or off for that device. Listed devices include Speakers and Applications (Windows Sounds). Make sure both of these options are in the "On" position. The beeping sound on the HP will be enabled when both of these options are on.
4. Click the "X" to close the volume mixer window.

5. Click on the "Speaker" icon in the System Tray. The System Tray is located in the bottom right corner of the Windows desktop. If the sound is turned off, a red circle with a line will appear over the speaker icon. The speaker control will open.
6. Click the speaker button to toggle between "Speaker Off" and "Speaker On." When the red circle with the line disappears, the speakers are turned on.
7. Click off the speaker control (click on the desktop) to close the control.
