The acidic nature of vinegar helps to dissolve hard water scale in your dishwasher.
If your water has a higher concentration of minerals, like calcium and magnesium, these minerals can react with your dishwasher detergent to form hard water scale. This residue, which is also known as limescale, can cling to your dishwasher and cause your dishes to acquire a cloudy haze as well. You can remove hard water deposits from your dishwasher by using inexpensive all-purpose cleaners that you may already have in the cupboard.
Instructions
1. Wet a cloth with white vinegar and use it to wipe down all of your dishwasher's surfaces, inside and out.
2. Sprinkle 1 tbsp. of baking soda onto your vinegar-moistened cloth if you have deposits that won't wipe off easily. Scrub these areas with the vinegar and baking soda to remove buildup.
3. Fill a dishwasher-safe container with white vinegar and place it in the top rack of your dishwasher. Run the washer on its hottest cycle.
4. Fill your rinse aid reservoir with vinegar to help delay future buildup in your dishwasher and on your dishes.
