Laundry detergent tablets are little packages of laundry detergent that you put into your machine like any other cleaning product. These tablets are more convenient, tidier and easier to use than other laundry cleaners but they are also very expensive. You can easily make them yourself, though, and save a lot of money in the process. Most of the supplies are easy to get, but you will need to use food-grade dissolvable capsules. You can find these at health food stores or pharmaceutical supply shops.
Instructions
1. Using a grater, shred 8 bars of soap into a container with a lid. Use a mild, unscented soap rather than a heavily perfumed one.
2. Add 12 cups of sodium borate to the container and mix it into the soap with a spoon.
3. Pour 8 cups of baking soda and 8 cups of washing soda into the mixture and stir it until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
4. Pour 1/8 of a cup of the mixture into a separate bowl. Use this to fill the dissolvable capsules. Take note of how many capsules 1/8 of a cup can fill because this is the number of capsules you will need for one regular load of laundry.
5. Put the remaining powder into capsules and store them in a dry, cool place.
