Deer can be beautiful creatures, but can cause severe damage to our gardens. They feed on plant leaves and vegetables, and it does not take long for a single deer to destroy an entire garden. You can easily create your own deer repellent right at home which will keep deer out of your garden, and prevent you from having to take further measures to get rid of them.
Eggs
Eggs work as a natural repellent when sprayed on plant leaves. Deer do not like the taste or smell of eggs, so they will avoid your garden altogether. In a spray bottle, mix 2 cups of water with 2 whisked eggs. Spray this solution directly onto plant leaves, and the eggs will work to stick to leaves, helping the solution to withstand rain and other weather conditions for an extended period of time. Spraying this solution on plant leaves twice per month should keep the deer out of your garden.
Dish Soap
Dish soap also repels deer. In a spray bottle, mix 2 cups of water with 15 drops of your normal liquid dish detergent. Spray directly onto plant leaves, and the detergent will work as an adhesive, sticking to plant leaves. The scent and flavor of the solution will keep deer at bay, and cause them to search for food in another location. Spray this solution onto plant leaves once per week.
Hot Sauce
The strong smell of hot sauce will easily work to repel deer. In a spray bottle, mix a solution of 2 cups water, 1/2 cup hot sauce, and 5 drops liquid dish detergent (which will work as an adhesive). Spray this solution onto plant leaves, and repeat every week until deer no longer come to your garden as a feeding area.
