Show off a stunning cupcake with its own cupcake stand.
You can find large cupcake stands for sale, but locating a stand to showcase one special cupcake is slightly more difficult. Instead of scouring the racks of bakeware stores, consider making your own individual cupcake stand. You can even use recycled materials from your home or resale shops to create a one-of-a-kind piece to display your creative cupcakes. If you're feeling industrious, you can make one cupcake stand for each guest of a party and use the stands as place cards at your table.
Instructions
1. Purchase or locate a small decorative plate and a glass. A small dessert plate works fine but the mouth of the glass you choose must rest flat against the bottom of the plate or the finished cupcake stand will wobble.
2. Clean the plate and the glass thoroughly in hot, soapy water to remove any dust or greasy spots. Rinse and dry the dishes when you finish washing them.
3. Place the plate upside down on a newspaper-covered work surface.
4. Apply a line of adhesive to the mouth of the glass and press it onto the bottom of the plate.
5. Wait at least one hour for the adhesive to dry. Some adhesives may take longer than one hour so read the directions to make sure that the glue is completely dry before you continue.
6. Turn the glass and the plate over to reveal your individual cupcake stand.
