Problems With Viking Refrigerators

A Viking refrigerator's doors may not close properly if there are food items blocking them.

When it comes to choosing a refrigerator, many homeowners opt for a Viking appliance because Viking-brand refrigerators offer a wide range of options and features that make storing food more convenient. Most Viking refrigerators also have attractive stainless steel finishes, so they are ideal for homeowners who prefer a sleek, modern look. From time to time, you may experience issues with your Viking refrigerator that prevent it from operating effectively. Taking the time to familiarize yourself with problems that may arise will enable you to make repairs more quickly when necessary.

Refrigerator Is Too Warm

In some cases, a Viking refrigerator or freezer compartment may become too warm. Opening the door too often can cause cold air to escape the refrigerator or freezer and raise the temperature. Both the refrigerator and freezer compartments have air vents, which are typically located in the back of the compartments. If food items are placed in front of the vents to block them, the temperature inside the refrigerator and freezer may become too warm. In addition, the refrigerator's temperature may rise if a large amount of unchilled food is added to the refrigerator or freezer compartment all at once.

Moisture Builds Up Inside Refrigerator

It is not uncommon for moisture to build up inside a Viking refrigerator. In fact, some moisture is part of normal operating conditions. However, if you notice excessive moisture inside your refrigerator, it may be due to the compartment's air vents being blocked. Remove any large food items that are directly in front of the vent, because they may prevent air from flowing freely in and out of the compartment. There may also be excess moisture inside a Viking refrigerator if the room that it is located in is particularly humid. To address this issue, make sure that the refrigerator's controls are set in accordance with the room's conditions. Typically, increasing the temperature by a degree can help cut back on the moisture.

Door Does Not Operate Properly

A Viking refrigerator's doors may not close properly if there are food items blocking its path. The compartment's bins and shelves may also prevent the door from closing properly if they are not placed in the correct positions. The refrigerator's doors may become difficult to open if the gaskets are sticky or dirty. Use warm, soapy water to clean the gaskets and rub them dry. In addition, the door may be difficult to open if it has been opened and closed within the last several seconds. Allow approximately 30 seconds to pass before attempting to reopen the door, and it should open easily.

Water Leaks From Water Dispenser

Some Viking refrigerator models are equipped with water dispensers. On occasion, the dispenser may experience a leak. In most cases, a leak indicates that the water system requires flushing. To flush the system, use a heavy container to press the dispenser level and hold it in place for five seconds. Release the lever for five seconds. Repeat the process until water flows through the system. The system should be flushed after it is initially connected to the home's water source and after each occasion that the water filter is changed.
