Use & Care Guide For A Whirlpool Duet Electronic Washing Machine

Whirlpool is an American consumer appliance company. It sells front-loading washing machines that feature the Duet Sport fabric care system, which is an energy-efficient feature that saves you on water and energy. These washers are designed to last a long time, but you must properly maintain your washing machine to extend its life. Also, you should try fixing any issues with your washing machine before contacting the company for assistance.

Operating Your Washing Machine

Only use high-efficiency detergent with your Duet washing machine. The washing machine does not use a lot of water, which can cause excessive sudsing when you use regular detergent. Always properly sort your laundry, including separating light-colored clothing from dark and heavy clothing from light clothing. Remove any pins, buttons or change from clothing to keep these items from scratching the tub. Load the laundry, and close the tub. Add the detergent into the detergent dispenser and fabric softener into the fabric softener dispenser. Turn the washing machine power on, and select a drying cycle and an option. Press "Start/Pause" to start the washing machine.

Cleaning

Clean the lint filter after every use. Use either a washing machine cleaner or chlorine bleach to clean the drum. Run the washing machine without clothing. If your washing machine has the "Affresh" cycle, select the "Clean Washer" cycle, and press "Start/Pause." Clean the dispenser if you change detergent. Remove the cartridge from the washing machine, and rinse it out with warm water. Let it dry before using it again. You must clean the seal when it gets dirty, and the seal is located between the basket and the door. Lift the seal, and use a mixture of chlorine bleach (3/4 cup) and warm water (1 gallon) to clean the seal.

Winter/Vacation Storage

Never set up your washing machine in an area where it could freeze. If you must winterize it, turn off the water faucets and remove the inlet and drainage hoses. Add 1 quart of antifreeze to the basket, and turn on the "Rinse and Spin" cycle for 30 seconds. Disconnect the washing machine. Always unplug your power cord before you leave for vacation, and turn off both the water supply and gas if you have a gas dryer. If you must move your washing machine, tape the door shut and secure the leveling legs to the bottom. Disconnect all the hoses and power cords.

Troubleshooting

Verify that the Duet washing machine is plugged into a live outlet if it won't turn on. Test the outlet using another appliance. Turn the circuit breaker back on if it is tripped, and replace blown fuses. Only use a time-delay fuse, and plug the washing machine into a 120-volt power supply. If water is not entering or leaving the washing machine, clean out clogs from the inlet and drainage hoses. Clean door seals and the dispenser if you see leaks. Tighten loose hoses and connections.
