Frigidare Dishwasher Installation Instructions

Installing a Frigidair dishwasher requires some basic plumbing skills.

One household chore requirement that has been solved by modern technology is dishwashing. The dishwasher is a quick way to get rid of all those dirty plates and bowls. According to a study at the University of Bonn in Germany, dishwashers actually prove more water efficient than several hand washing practices. Frigidaire makes a wide variety of Energy Star rated washing machines that use less energy and water than non-energy star rated machines. Now you can feel a bit more comfortable installing a Frigidaire dishwasher, knowing it is the green thing to do.

Instructions

1. Remove the screws from the kick plate on the bottom of the machine, at the front, using a Philips head screwdriver. Tilt the plate out and pull it off.

2. Find the water inlet valve that is located on the bottom left-hand side of the unit.

3. Wrap a 90-degree plumbing elbow with plumber's tape so the threads are covered. Screw the elbow into the valve. Tighten the elbow down with a wrench.

4. Connect the water inlet line to the 90-degree elbow using the nut on the supply line. Tighten the nut down using a wrench.

5. Connect the electrical supply to the washer. Pull the wires from the back of the machine through the metal junction box already installed. Attach the grounding wires of the machine to the grounding screw in the junction box by tightening the screw over the wire. Connect the black lead from your electrical supply to the black lead coming from the dishwasher using a wire nut. Twist the wire nut around the two wires clockwise. Do the same with the white wires.

6. Attach the drain line to the back of the unit by sliding on the plastic drain line and tightening the screw on the clamp installed on the drain outlet. Attach the drain line to the wall using a metal strap included with the dishwasher, using a screwdriver. Attach the other end of the drain line to the drain underneath your sink using a wrench.

7. Slide the washer into place and secure it with the mounting screws included in your kit. Look at the diagram on the instruction manual for your dishwasher's specifics. Generally, open the door of the dishwasher and turn the feet of the washer until the machine looks level. Place a spirit level on top of the machine to make sure it is straight. Attach a screw to the countertop through each bracket on top of the dishwasher.
