Troubleshoot The Ge Profile Touchpad

Troubleshoot the GE Profile Touchpad

The General Electric Home Appliances division manufactures a variety of items for the home, including dishwashers, washers and dryers, refrigerators and ranges. The Profile line includes a full line of kitchen appliances, most designed with stainless steel exteriors and an electric touchpad. While the electric touchpad should work well on most GE Profile appliances without difficulty, if problems do occur, troubleshooting the issue may help identify a possible solution.

Instructions

Oven

1. Close the oven door if using a GE Profile oven and the word "Locked" flashes on oven after a "Self Clean" cycle has been selected. The door must be closed firmly in order for the self clean cycle to begin.

2. Press "Stop/Clear" on the oven touchpad if the "Locked" display appears when you wish to begin cooking. This indicates the oven temperature is too hot to touch, typically following a self clean cycle, and must cool down before the door will unlock automatically.

3. Unplug the oven and wait 30 seconds before reconnecting power if an "F" with a number appears on the display. This will reset the oven. If the error returns, contact a service technician for assistance.

4. Press the "Boil Hi/Lo" and "Bake" pads at the same time and hold for 3 seconds if the display won't show "SF" when attempting to adjust the oven thermostat. Once "SF" appears on the display, press "Bake" to increase or decrease the oven temperature.

Dishwasher

5. Press "Start/Reset" pad once to cancel the wash cycle if the "Start/Reset" status indicator light begins to flash. Select the desired wash cycle and press "Start" to begin.

6. Ensure the dishwasher door is firmly closed if the touchpad responded to input but the dishwasher did not start.

7. Select each pad within 5 minutes when using the touchpad if the control panel lights go out. This indicates too much time has elapsed between pressing the buttons.

Washer

8. Press the "Power" button if the touchpad has gone dark.

9. Unplug the washer and wait 30 seconds before reconnecting the power if an error code appears on the display. Check for obstacles in the inlet and drain hoses and ensure the power and water is turned on to the washer.

10. Contact a service technician if the error code returns.
